ENTERPRISE ASSET MANAGEMENT 101

The use of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) is most lucrative when the relationship between asset lifecycles and the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is understood. In Mintek’s article, “Enterprise Asset Management 101,” the keys to understanding the asset lifecycle are detailed – from planning, to its regular operational phase, to its last phases.

Maximizing EAM potential is vital to your organization’s future success. With four operational areas where TCO can be most influenced, EAM provides solutions for every industry. These operational areas include operations, planned maintenance, user requested needs, and repairs.

For a detailed account of how EAM/CMMS can be most successful, please read Mintek’s article “Enterprise Asset Management 101” http://blog.mintek.com/Enterprise_Asset_Management/bid/39836/The-Roles-of-an-EAM-in-Asset-Lifecycle-TCO

TEN KEYS TRENDS TO SELECTING A CMMS/EAM VENDOR

According to David Berger, an expert contributing editor to Plant Services, there are ten key trends in selecting a CMMS/EAM vendor and its specified services.  Companies from all industries are continuing to upgrade, replace, or buy new asset management software. Therefore, in Berger’s trend analysis, he addresses the most important features and functions in each CMMS/EAM product and compares “head to toe” capabilities of their software packages.  Berger affirms that these ten key trends are industry specialization, enterprise thinking, utilization of the web, operational excellence, sustainability, risk management, mobile technology, condition-based maintenance, scheduling, and pricing. Each of these plays an integral role in optimizing the CMMS/EAM experience.

David Berger has been contributing editor to Plant Services since 1992 and has conducted maintenance audits, helped senior management develop maintenance strategies, operations, and engineering. He has assisted organizations in the implementation of process improvement initiatives with excellent results. Berger was recently rewarded the Sergio Guy Memorial Reward for his contributions to the maintenance and asset management profession.

DAXEAM Booth Draws Excitement at Convergence 2010

Out of hundreds of booths in attendance at Microsoft Convergence 2010 in Atlanta this week, the new DAXEAM brand has attracted many eyes, excitement and positive feedback. Not only has its first appearance to the industry been a hit at Convergence; The DAXEAM team’s initiative to invite guests to write six-word memoirs about the brand has created a buzz that has drawn in numerous entrants.  Inspired by a project founded by the online storytelling magazine SMITH Magazine, the book Six-Word Memoirs seeks to provide a platform for storytelling in all forms, and DAXEAM has sought to bring the same concept to Convergence participants this year.

“Hundreds of conference attendees have stopped by the DAXEAM booth to view demos and have been wowed by the new brand,” said Phil Earle, Director of DAXEAM.  DAXEAM is currently being showcased at Booth 1311 until Tuesday, April 27th. DAXEAM LAUNCHES DYNAMICS AX ENTERPRISE
ASSET MANAGEMENT SOLUTION

DAXEAM is pleased to announce the recent launch of its Enterprise Asset Management solution.  Powered by Microsoft Dynamics AX, DAXEAM is an enterprise asset maintenance solution that manages the complete asset life cycle. DAXEAM is fully integrated with Dynamics AX, providing equipment and asset maintenance to AX customers in asset intensive industries.

As a native Dynamics AX module, DAXEAM integrates maintenance operations with AX’s back office ERP functions.

DAXEAM is designed and built from the ground up as a true ‘enterprise’ maintenance solution for Dynamics AX. DAXEAM takes advantage of the power of Dynamics AX providing a single, seamless environment for users and eliminating costly and inefficient integrations. DAXEAM works with Dynamics AX – not against it – thereby maximizing a company’s ability to affect true enterprise-wide efficiencies. As a native Dynamics AX module, there is nothing extra to build, customize or maintain. From the first day, users will be working in a single, familiar Dynamics AX environment.

"DAXEAM is the best example of how an integrated, AX based, Enterprise Asset Management solution can deliver value to our end customers in asset intensive industries, said Martin Wildsmith, Business Development Director at Eclipse – a Dynamics AX Partner of the Year Finalist.

DAXEAM provides the user with a single point of data entry, single source of records for vendors, inventory, assets and more.  A unified environment between maintenance operations and the back office for security, logistics, workflow and reporting enables true ‘enterprise’ asset management.

As a native Dynamics AX module, DAXEAM uses familiar, standard AX navigation, therefore users are instantly comfortable in navigating and using DAXEAM. IT staff can support and maintain DAXEAM with little added overhead as DAXEAM is a native Dynamics AX module; even security profiles are common between DAXEAM and AX.

Most ‘standalone’ equipment maintenance solutions require costly and inherently complex integrations. Duplicate databases are required for important corporate data such as vendor files, purchase orders, inventory, receiving and matching. DAXEAM eliminates these costly, inherently risky integration points. DAXEAM shares vendors, purchasing, inventory and receiving with Dynamics AX. There are no multiple data entry points, no need to ‘synchronize’ files and no need to create costly data reconciliations between two systems. DAXEAM is a true ‘Enterprise’ asset maintenance solution.

DAXEAM will be unveiled at the Microsoft Convergence Conference in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday, April 24, 2010 – Booth 1311.
